Stefan was born and raised in Bolsward and is studying ICT at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. Through the ‘Masters of Change’ minor, he discovered the WRKLab, where he was given the opportunity to work on a project at Cloud86. “I’m happy to leave the hustle and bustle of the Randstad behind.”
From ice skating at Thialf to cycling through the Frisian countryside
Stefan bij de Weg is a true Frisian; born and raised in Bolsward. After finishing secondary school, he chose to study ICT at Firda in Sneek, where he discovered his passion for technology and information systems. Stefan then went on to study at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences in Leeuwarden. He is currently in the process of completing his bachelor’s degree in ICT there.
He doesn’t like sitting still. And it shows: alongside his studies, he works as a junior data analyst, and at the weekends he enjoys spending time in the countryside, cycling or ice skating at Thialf.
“Ideally, I’d like to live near Appelscha when I’m older; you can go for lovely bike rides through the nature reserves there. As soon as it gets colder, I get my skates out of the cupboard and you’ll find me on the ice at Thialf.”

From WRKLab to Cloud86
During his studies, Stefan took the ‘Masters of Change’ minor. Among other things, this course teaches you how change works in the workplace and in life. It was through this minor that Stefan ended up at the WRKLab. Together with his group, he worked on projects for Brandmerck and Cloud86. Stefan is very positive about his experience at the WRKLab: “I like the fact that you can choose from different clients. I also really appreciated the practical focus, as you’re working on an issue that genuinely benefits the company.” During the WRKLab, he found he had a good rapport with Cloud86, which is why he is now working on an assignment within the company four days a week.
During the WRKLab, he was often in weekly contact with Cloud86, so it was no problem for Stefan to get in touch with the company. “After a quick phone call, I was able to pop round straight away to discuss the assignment,” he says. The project Cloud86 had lined up is a perfect fit for data analyst Stefan. He is currently building a data warehouse for Cloud86’s various data sources, with the aim of improving the flow of information and data provision. The decision to take on the assignment in Friesland was a conscious one: “I spoke to several companies and had options for projects; there was also a great project waiting in Eindhoven, but I preferred to do it in Friesland. Cloud86 was very enthusiastic after our first meeting – so the choice was quickly made.”
