De Vries Maritiem Sailmakers is the sailmaker that works with you to find the right solution. Our sailmakers produce and repair sails for all kinds of boats. We have been doing this for almost 200 years from our own sailmaking workshop in Lemmer, Friesland. We are proud of our local production by sailmakers who believe in their craft!
Did you know that our sail-making workshop was founded by a circumnavigator? None other than Marten Pietersz De Vries settled in Lemmer in 1823. Before that, he had spent years sailing as a sail-maker aboard a windjammer. He sailed all over the world! With so much experience, he was perfectly placed to provide the Frisian market with expert advice and high-quality sails. In 1830, Marten founded the Sailmaking Workshop, little knowing that 200 years later the business would grow into a leading sailmaker.

Did you know that there is no official training to become a sailmaker? It is a true craft that we teach our colleagues ourselves in our sailmaking workshop.
