Weed Free Service was founded in 2013 by Harry Kloosterman. Initially, the company offered the then-innovative, environmentally friendly hot-water method for weed control.

Over the years, Weed Free Service has increasingly specialised in the control of invasive alien species. The hot water method became increasingly specialised. Specific lances were developed, the bulk method using demineralised water was introduced, and Weed Free Service soon became the leading specialist in invasive alien species control. Weed-Lightning is another tried-and-tested control method introduced by Weed Free Service. Since 2023, the electrocution of invasive alien species has also been possible on a large scale using an advanced tractor with a mowing arm. In 2023, we will also begin controlling invasive alien species using ice (Weed-Freeze).
