The Fryslân Fire Service, GGD Fryslân, Crisis Management and Operations together form the Fryslân Safety Region, a dynamic public sector organisation. Each division of the Fryslân Safety Region has its own identity and structure. The GGD, for example, operates using self-organising teams. The Fire Service is a matrix organisation. The culture also differs. Anyone walking into a health clinic will experience a different atmosphere to that in a fire station. How do you bring all these diverse units together? The answer is: with respect for one another. At the Fryslân Safety Region, we recognise the differences and bring the similarities together. The greatest common denominator is our mission: ‘We contribute to a safe and healthy Fryslân’. We also try to do this based on shared values: customer-focused, with a sense of ownership, collaborative and curious.
