Tryater is Fryslân’s leading multilingual theatre company and forms part of the national cultural infrastructure.
The Frisian language plays a prominent role in our performances. We put on around 235 performances a year, for some 23,000 children, young people and adults. Throughout Fryslân. Our performances are diverse, inclusive and accessible: we want to be there for all the people of Fryslân.
Tryater believes it is important to be as accessible as possible to everyone. The foyer, the main auditorium and the small auditorium are easily accessible for people with reduced mobility. When we perform at a venue, we recommend checking our website or that of the building where we are performing.
Many performances can be followed by deaf and hard-of-hearing people using an induction loop, surtitles or smart glasses. The website indicates for each performance whether this is the case. Tryater often selects a number of seats in the row for translation via surtitles or smart glasses.
Tryater strives to ensure that its performances are accessible to people who are blind or visually impaired. The Komt het Zien! Foundation makes it possible for people with an audiovisual impairment to follow a performance. Live audio description and ‘meet & feel’ introductions help with this.
