Over the years, Thialf has proven its worth and established itself as a tried-and-tested concept on a global scale. Thanks to Thialf, Friesland and the Netherlands have a unique skating culture. Thialf is the only venue in the Netherlands to hold ISU A status and, partly due to the facilities available in Heerenveen, serves as a breeding ground for talent. The quality of the ice and the unique atmosphere ensure that the Thialf brand is known far beyond the borders of the Netherlands. Thialf is therefore of great socio-economic importance to Friesland and the North of the Netherlands. Ultimately, Thialf represents 150 years of pure skating heritage.

Thialf is an iconic name thanks to its unique atmosphere and top-quality ice for the international skating elite: the skating heart of the world! In addition to training sessions and competitions for elite athletes, Thialf provides facilities for both recreational and grassroots sports in long-track speed skating, short track, ice hockey, figure skating, curling and speed skating.
