De Koevoet is a small, family-run business in Teroele. We have a marina, a small campsite, a fleet of rental boats and ten apartments, as well as our own harbour café. We welcome a mix of regular guests, water sports enthusiasts, holidaymakers and people who have been coming back here for years for the peace and quiet and the water.
Nelly and Niels (brother and sister) took over the business from their mother in 2014. We run the business with a team of permanent and on-call staff. In the summer, it’s bustling, busy and lively, and we sometimes have to pull out all the stops.
From the end of October until Easter, things quieten down. There is time for maintenance, a thorough clean and new ideas. But it isn’t completely quiet: the Havencafé is open for parties, gatherings and meetings, and the apartments continue to be let out.
This allows us to offer year-round contracts, whereby the overtime worked during the high season is offset during the low season.
We do a lot ourselves here. Our team is small and dedicated; we help each other where needed, and there’s always room for humour, common sense and a chat by the water. No rigid hierarchy, no fuss; just responsibility, trust and teamwork. Everyone knows each other, and everyone contributes to keeping the business running smoothly.
