Microplastic pollution
Human society is addicted to plastic and consumes millions of tonnes of it every year. The use of plastic has brought prosperity thanks to its excellent mechanical and barrier properties. However, its leakage into the environment leads to the accumulation of microplastics, which can now be found in every corner of the earth and in most living creatures, including ourselves! The alarming effects of this on the environment and living organisms are now coming to light, making it urgently necessary to tackle further pollution from microplastics.
Paques Biomaterials offers a solution to microplastics
We produce Caleyda, a natural material designed to replace plastic, with the major advantage that it is fully biodegradable in all terrestrial environments. Caleyda consists of PHA polymers produced by natural microbes and can be used in a wide range of applications. These polymers offer better end-of-life options than other plastics and always prevent the accumulation of microplastics in the environment.
