International School Fryslân is a new international primary school in Leeuwarden, established by PCBO Leeuwarden in collaboration with, amongst others, NHL Stenden and the municipality of Leeuwarden. The school will be a dynamic and inclusive learning environment for international and multilingual children. We aim to provide a high-quality educational programme with a strong sense of community and close cooperation with parents, employers and other stakeholders in the region.
PCBO Leeuwarden and the surrounding area is a foundation for Christian primary education where a practical and solution-focused approach forms the basis for our work. Within our organisation, we have an informal atmosphere and are always there for one another. There are short lines of communication with the administrative office, and together we work to provide a high-quality and enriching education for the children entrusted to our care.
The international school is embedded within the vision of the PCBO Leeuwarden Foundation. This means that the school offers a meaningful and promising learning environment in which children learn to learn, learn to think, learn to communicate and learn to live in a rapidly changing world. The school is a ‘Mienskip’ in which respectful engagement with one another and the world takes centre stage. ‘Mienskip’ is a place where children, parents, businesses and educational institutions work together towards a future in which everyone feels welcome and connected. In this community, international and local pupils come together to learn from and with one another, embracing multilingualism and cultural diversity as strengths.
