The story of Hotel de Abdij is the story of Dokkum itself, and of experiencing, savouring and staying here. Building on Dokkum’s history and the significance of this building on the Markt over the centuries, four local entrepreneurs took the initiative in 2019 to give the listed building a new role in the region. A tailor, a steel fabricator, a haulier and a jack-of-all-trades joined forces to create a high-quality hotel with 20 rooms and meeting spaces. In 2022, two culinary entrepreneurs joined the hotel and restaurant Proef | Lokaal. Following the completion of the historic stock exchange building across the street, Proef | Lokaal has made way for the impressive restaurant Ode.
