Now in its fourth generation, the family business continues to thrive. At Hekstra, the ultimate sense of home is at the heart of everything we do – for our clients, for the partners we work closely with, and for our staff. Nothing is more important to Hekstra than ensuring everyone feels at home, safe and secure. We want to create a sense of home not only for our clients, but also for our staff. A place where they can be themselves and enjoy themselves. The place where you work is a big part of your life. We want that place to feel like home for our staff. Like one big family, where we can share our joys and sorrows with one another, but also take pride together in what we have achieved.

We like to do things our way. We are part of the process of building our customers’ homes. We are happy to add value here. We step in the moment a dream and a wish arise and only let go when our client can take their bedding with them to move into their new home. We do business from the heart. In this way, we do not build a house of bricks or wood. We build a new home.

Creating a sense of home requires empathy and collaboration. We connect all parties to ultimately turn a house into a home. This starts with our four disciplines: thatchers, master roofers, builders and prefabrication. Together, we have a wide range of skilled tradespeople. By working together, we harness everyone’s strengths and can contribute ideas collectively. We empathise and collaborate to identify which partners and suppliers can help create that sense of home. An architect who creates a stunning exterior design, an interior designer who contributes ideas on circulation and sightlines, or a bathroom and kitchen specialist who provides a bespoke solution.

Standing still is going backwards. Doing things differently from others is what sets us apart. We love to take on a challenge. We explore new avenues and, in doing so, build our most beautiful projects. We combine our imaginative spirit with the experience we have in our profession. This results in the most beautiful new-build homes and renovations. Solutions that a client previously did not consider possible may be the answer to their needs. We aspire to always do things differently. We explore and innovate, and the market moves with us.
