A Wadden Island with a population of 1,200 people that attracts nearly 250,000 tourists every year. A small but independent municipality with its own council and administrative apparatus. That is the municipality of Vlieland. A small organisation facing major challenges in maintaining the facilities necessary for the island’s quality of life. And to do so as sustainably as possible.
