The Frisian Environmental Federation (FMF) has been working for 50 years to create a beautiful and sustainable Fryslân: one with rich biodiversity, a beautiful landscape and a healthy living environment for people, plants and animals. We are wholeheartedly committed to the sustainable development of the province. This is our mission, and we intend to continue working hard towards it in the years to come.
As a network organisation, we build bridges between our member organisations, the Frisian authorities, businesses and the people of Friesland. In total, we represent 38 member organisations and, through them, more than 95,000 Frisians. With our roots in Frisian society and a nationwide network of Nature and Environment Federations, we can make an impact both locally and nationally. This is essential, because when it comes to the climate, biodiversity and environmental quality, we need everyone on board.
Our dream
We have a dream. Together with the whole community, we will bring colour to Fryslân over the next 10 years. Together, we will accelerate the transition from grey, polluting and exhausting to an attractive, sustainable and colourful future. By 2030, our province will once again be teeming with life: the Frisian countryside will be full of flowers and herbs, and everywhere there will be a rich biodiversity of soil life, plants, insects and farmland birds. By 2030, the restoration of biodiversity will be well advanced and our nature reserves will be vibrant and resilient. The quality of water, soil and air will have improved significantly.
