For almost forty years, we have been going the extra mile where others give up when it comes to maintaining hard-to-access and vulnerable nature reserves.
We have three divisions: a reed trading business, a nature conservation contracting division, and a machine-building division. We develop our own ‘wetland track’ machines, which are then used in our nature conservation contracting operations. We also manufacture machinery for third parties. Our company’s history dates back to the 1970s, when father Piet de Vries and his business partner decided to start cutting reed on a small scale. This work involved a great deal of manual labour. In the late 1980s, son Gerrit-Jan introduced the organisation’s first tracked machine, making manual labour largely a thing of the past. The converted Pistenbully proved to be a godsend and mows, among other things, the grasslands on the beautiful island of Vlieland. Today, Gerrit-Jan, together with Sjoukje, has been at the helm of the organisation for 18 years.

Over the years, we have grown to become the leading player in the sector. We are currently active in reed cutting and the reed trade, nature conservation and machine construction, both for our own operations and for third parties.
