Our mission

Making healthy food accessible to everyone!

At the De Buurtkok Foundation, we firmly believe that everyone has the right to healthy food. Unfortunately, we see that healthy products are becoming increasingly expensive, whilst unhealthy alternatives are generally cheaper. It is De Buurtkok’s mission to tackle this inequality and make healthy food accessible to everyone. That way, everyone can experience the power of healthy food!

Thanks to proceeds from sales, donations and grants, we are able to provide weekly meals to neighbours who are struggling financially. The more support we receive, the more we can give and the greater the impact will be. Let’s make a difference together. Will you join us?

So that everyone can experience the power of healthy food. Everyone is welcome at De Buurtkok. We don’t just make tasty and healthy food; we also want people to feel connected and help one another. By working together, we want to make the neighbourhood a little better for everyone.

Our volunteers

De Buurtkok is an initiative by four enthusiastic entrepreneurs from Heerenveen with a shared mission: to make healthy food accessible to everyone. Hanny, Simon, Nynke, Paula and Esther work together with a team of enthusiastic volunteers to make this a reality. Without our fantastic volunteers, there would be no Buurtkok. Each of them, in their own unique way, is there for the foundation. Whether it’s preparing those delicious meals, distributing them, handling the admin or supporting our activities. Our volunteers are the beating heart of our organisation. Their commitment and energy make all the difference and have a positive impact on the community we serve.
