We believe that waste is the raw material for a better future. Turning nothing into something: that’s what we do every day. Together with our partners, we ensure that the circular economy is put into practice.
The waste problem is immense and therefore seems difficult to tackle. We simply got started because we believe that action can bring about positive change. That is why Cycle-Up was founded: a circular service offering a local and practical solution.
We believe in a circular future: a future in which waste no longer exists and its value is recognised. We are building this circular future in the first circular HUB in the Northern Netherlands: the Cycle-Up HUB. This vibrant location brings together circular businesses, all working towards this circular future. Our partners include:
- Stadshout Leeuwarden (felled timber becomes new furniture)
- Pottle (wine bottles become stylish drinking glasses)
- Fryslan Fungies (coffee grounds become oyster mushrooms)
- OwnieZ flip-flops (sustainable rubber becomes stylish flip-flops)
Our Cycle-Up HUB offers a wide range of activities: we organise events, provide impact assessments and, of course, work every day to identify which waste streams we can upcycle.
In addition, we work with the Social Workforce: an innovative project that gives people who are distanced from the labour market the opportunity to find work. This group of people is deployed across a wide range of roles within the Cycle-Up HUB. This means that rather than working five days a week at the same company, they develop different talents and skills through the varied tasks on offer.
