But what or who is Circulair Friesland? We are our members. And our members are the heroes of the circular economy in our province. They dare to transform habits into circular ambitions and to forge links with other businesses, public authorities, knowledge institutions and (civil society) organisations. How do they do that? By laying their agenda and interests out in the open. By working together. By taking the plunge. And by inspiring others to take circular steps too. Or, as we like to say: simply by doing it.
Where do I start with the circular economy? Every member of the Circular Friesland Association has asked themselves that question at some point. And that’s a good thing. Because it was this important question that led seven companies to take the first step towards closing material loops in 2015. Together with the Province of Fryslân and the Municipality of Leeuwarden, they commissioned a raw materials flow analysis for Fryslân. In this way, they took the first steps towards the creation of Circulair Friesland. The province where, every winter, we look forward to the Elfstedentocht, with its vibrant cities, picturesque villages and stunning natural beauty.
Circular Friesland currently has 145 members, comprising educational institutions, public authorities and businesses. Because you don’t go circular on your own. We do it together!
