Carins

Carins is an implementing body of the municipality of Smallingerland. We implement the Social Support Act (Wmo), the Youth Act and the Debt Assistance Scheme on behalf of the municipality, in accordance with policies drawn up by the municipality.

In the municipality of Smallingerland, we are the go-to place where residents can find information, help or support with questions about:

• Housing, welfare and participation
• Parenting and growing up
• Debt and income

What does that mean?

We do what’s necessary. Where possible, we do it ourselves; where needed, we seek help from others. But always in partnership with the client and their support network.

We take an integrated approach. We look at the question behind the question. By making contact, listening and clarifying.

We work on the principle: 1 household, 1 plan, 1 contact person. So if a youth-related issue also involves a need for income support, we do not refer the client to another department, but instead (in consultation with the client) we ourselves call upon the assistance of our colleagues in the debt advice service.
