The Fryslân Fire Service is part of the Fryslân Safety Region. Within the Fryslân Safety Region, the Frisian municipalities, the Fryslân Fire Service, the Fryslân Municipal Health Service (GGD Fryslân) and other partners work together on fire and rescue services, public health, disaster response and crisis management. The fire service focuses on preventing and limiting fires, firefighting, and providing technical assistance in situations such as road traffic accidents, incidents involving hazardous substances, risks of collapse, and storm and water damage. The Fryslân Fire Service employs nearly 1,400 people, including around 1,200 volunteers.
