Why WRK.frl/
The Frisian labour market is facing a rapidly ageing population and, partly as a result, a significant shortage of workers. There are many jobs and too few people to fill them. According to Planbureau Fryslân, this shortage in the labour market will only increase in the coming years. By 2040, an additional shortage of 25,000 people is expected. This is on top of the current shortages. Reason enough to take action!
Cooperation between Frisian employers, educational institutes and government
WRK.frl/ was created through collaboration between Frisian employers, local and regional authorities, and educational institutions, with the aim of preventing the growing shortage in the Frisian labour market (article in Dutch) as much as possible. We do this by retaining talent that currently works and studies in Friesland for our province and by attracting talent from outside the province to Friesland.
Because our province has a lot to offer, even for job seekers from other regions. Housing here is still affordable, you often live in a very attractive residential area, there are numerous enjoyable sports clubs and you will find a rich cultural life.
Living, working and life
Nevertheless, outside Friesland, there is a perception that there is nothing but pastures here and that there is nothing to do. That is precisely where WRK.frl/ makes a difference. We tell the story of how wonderful it is to live and work here. In combination with employer profiles and numerous job vacancies, we use targeted campaigns to create an appealing image of all the advantages our province has to offer for a healthy and happy life.

How did WRK.frl/ come about?
In 2019, Frisian employers, governments and entrepreneurs wanted to take action to tackle future labour market shortages. Under the name 'Wolkom Thus', a project was launched that would later become WRK.frl/. The goal: to ensure that workers and students stay in Friesland and to attract new talent from outside the province. The mission was, and still is, to better profile Friesland as a great place to work, live and spend your life. The focus is primarily on the many Frisian employers and their job vacancies.
By gathering all Frisian job vacancies in one central location, we demonstrate the breadth and variety of employment opportunities available in Friesland. This is reinforced with relevant information about opportunities on the housing market, daily life, sports, culture and the Frisian Mienskip.. In this way, we attract talent from outside our province. This unique combination of information about working, living and life in one central location makes it easy and accessible to take a step towards Friesland. Welcome!!
Every job vacancy has an application form that forwards applications directly to the email address you have provided. As an employer on WRK.frl/, you are responsible for ensuring that the correct email address in our system is kept up to date. You can check this and update it where necessary via your employer profile. It is also possible to include the employer’s email address in a job vacancy. WRK.frl/ has no access to the information sent by applicants and cannot recover lost information or information sent to an incorrect email address.

WRK.frl/ has the largest internship board in Friesland for both vocational and higher vocational students. Just as with job vacancies, WRK.frl/ can automatically post all internships on behalf of many employers. And, of course, employers can also post their own internship vacancies. Post a vacancy as you normally would, tick the ‘internship’ box, and your vacancy will appear immediately on the internship noticeboard (subject to approval). In addition, students can also post an internship request. Employers can view these requests and easily have their contact details forwarded to the student. It is then up to the student to contact the employer. WRK.frl/ has no access to the information sent.

WRK.frl/ showcases, both within and beyond the province, why Friesland is such a wonderful place to live and work. Through personal accounts and factual information about living here, we explain why people should come to live in Friesland or choose to stay. The employer profiles highlight the many great and innovative employers in Friesland. And the job vacancies highlight the huge number of great jobs up for grabs in Friesland.
